Here's our lunch out in the countryside with our friends Pearl and Nancy:
Pearl, the pre-k teacher at KAS, drove us up to Meinong to the same restaurant we ate at a month ago. It's aboriginal food from the local mountain communities. My two favorite dishes were the fern salad:
and the fish:
The setting was pretty spectacular as well. The nearby mountains, while completely different from the mountains in Colorado, still reminded me of the Flatirons in Boulder:
This trip we had more time to do some shopping so Pearl took us to a wonderful little shop nearby. Meinong is famous for its traditional, handmade paper umbrellas and they are beautiful.
The shop also sold gorgeous silk fans:
The shopkeeper gave Pearl a fan as a gift to thank her for bringing her friends to the shop where we may have spent a little bit of money.
Just in case you're wondering, we did not buy the pigs:
go back and get those pigs!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you come visit I'll take you there and you can get the pigs.
