Cauliflower has come into season here in Taiwan and it is beautiful. At the market this morning we bought a very nice, white head of cauliflower but I had a twinge of buyer's remorse when we later came upon these beauties:
At the market I found a few new fruits I've never seen before. I tasted one of them and it was good but not worth the NT$500 the seller wanted. Instead I spent less than NT$100 and got a bag of one of my new favorites - jujubes. It's a little like an apple with a pit and nothing like the candy you get in a box at the movie theater.
After our market trip we went out for brunch at a funky little diner-type restaurant called K-Town. It's all the rage with the westerners because they have an English menu and they know how to make bacon.

We are quickly approaching Chinese New Year and the pace around the city is getting a bit frenetic. The local schools have the month off and everyone is traveling or shopping or just out and about. At the harbor this afternoon there were at least a dozen huge tour buses disgorging passengers and clogging up the streets. Our bike ride was even more exhilarating than usual.
