This is our last weekend here and Kaohsiung has received over 10 inches of rain in the past two days. We planned our departure for just a few days too late. We thought it would be good to have a couple of days to tie up loose ends - close the bank account, cancel the phones - but Thursday was Dragon Boat Festival and everyone took Friday off to make it a four day weekend. We had hoped a friend could visit us over the weekend but, with it being a long weekend, she couldn't get train tickets down from Taipei. So it's been three days of walking in the rain, too wet for biking, hit-or-miss with finding shops open, gray, gray, gray.

Okay, I'm done whining. For the moment.

Here's what we saw walking around today:
Aozihdi Park was flooded...
but the flowers were as beautiful as usual.

Even the view looking out from the window of our lunch spot was green, lush and wet.
I had a banana, bacon and peanut butter panini. Not bad for comfort food on a rainy day.
