Another rainy day, another day waiting/getting ready to leave. We found a restaurant near the school for lunch that we'd been meaning to go to. We'd headed to KAS to leave our last two boxes to be mailed home. An odd thing happened as we were packing. Our belongings seemed to multiply. How is it that two years ago we shipped one large box and brought four suitcases onto the plane and now that we're leaving we've mailed twelve boxes (smaller than the one we shipped over, but still...) and have four suitcases (two of them smaller than what we brought, but still...) to bring on the plane. Hmm.
Anyway, we dropped the boxes off at the guard house at school and the delivery service will pick them up tomorrow and, hopefully, the boxes will show up in Connecticut in a week or two. The school has a generous stipend for moving expenses so we've taken full advantage of that. So far, six of the ten boxes we've sent have arrived. Fingers crossed the rest will make it as well.
Back to the restaurant. It's a hotdog place near the school, run by an American born and raised in Taiwan. His parents were college professors and after traveling around a bit he's settled back into Taiwan and is making a go at running a restaurant. It was a cute little spot with a typical frontage on the street...
and a lovely table out back...
We watched the clouds get darker and and darker and by the time we left the wind had whipped up and the skies opened and it poured, again.
